More on Melatonin
Key take away:
"But only 16% of IVF treatments resulted in a successful pregnancy in months with less natural light compared to 20% in the summer."
Wow. That's a 25% increase in rates.
Thought to be due to melatonin and our reproductive systems have RECEPTORS for melatonin. Who knew?

INTERESTING. As a side note, I've only ever gotten pregnant during the spring and summer months - precisely when there's the most light. Makes one wonder.
You know, I never really thought about it before, but the two times I got pregnant in my life it was Spring, both times. Hmm....
*scratches chin*
Very interesting. Is this supposed to impact egg quality somehow or is it more about implantation? I actually use a sun lamp in the winter months to prevent SAD--mainly because I get so little sunlight in my windowless office. I wonder if that makes any difference.
Julize,
The article says:
"Eggs were of the same quality and could be harvested as successfully whatever time of year a woman was treated.
But only 16% of IVF treatments resulted in a successful pregnancy in months with less natural light compared to 20% in the summer."
So egg quality is the same, but implantation rates are better!
I already bought two huge bottles of 3mg melatonin and am ready to use it, but I am also opening up the door to a surrogate...so we'll see if I need it or not. :)

Do you take Royal Jelly as well? Been reading a lot about it and am into my first month taking it. It is supposed to help with egg quality with best results after 90 days. Perhaps with the two together we can work the magic.....
